Small & Large Renovations

Renovating your home can be an exciting yet potentially stressful time in your life. So much goes into the little details that the obvious things can be overlooked which can catch up with you once you’re already committed and prove to be costly.

Things to consider when project managing your own job:

  1. Have you had an architect or draftsman draw up some plans?
  2. Have you got multiple quotes from all trades?
  3. Have you got the critical sub trades including electrician & plumber to assess the site and make sure what your wanting to do is viable?
  4. Do you have every finishing detail planned out before starting including lights, tapware, sinks, tiles, windows, doors, flooring, roofing?

With the electrical, the biggest thing to consider is your switchboard. Do you have the capacity in the wires from the street to do the renovations? Does your switchboard have safety switches on it already? It is now a wiring law that when an electrician alters wiring in any way except for replacing an existing item, a safety switch must be protecting that circuit.

Other things to consider would be the lighting design & layout you want, where the power points should go in order to be functional for your home and whether it is compliant with current standards, codes and rules. We can help guide you through the process and work with you to implement your dream renovation. Involving us as early as possible in the process can save you time, money and unnecessary hassles further into the project.
