Smoke alarms and electrical home safety checks in Sydney & Northern Beaches

Smoke alarms are your first line of defence in a house fire, giving you and your family precious time to escape. Going hand-in-hand with ensuring your smoke alarms are in good working order is ensuring your house wiring is safe.

Home smoke alarms

Every home in NSW is legally required to have working smoke alarms — but beyond compliance, they’re a critical part of your home’s safety. We install, test, and maintain smoke alarms so you can sleep soundly knowing you’re protected.

Everyone knows the importance of smoke alarms. What you might not realise is the maintenance.

It’s more than replacing the battery—the actual alarm needs to be replaced every 10 years to be fully functional.  We will check all the alarms and replace as needed to make sure you are fully protected in your home.

Electrical safety checks for your home

We offer a full home walk-through, in which we will check your switchboard, meter box, cabling, all switches, power points, and any overuse of power boards.

An electrical safety check can identify hidden hazards before they become serious problems. From outdated wiring to overloaded circuits, we inspect your home’s electrical system to ensure everything is safe and up to current standards. It’s peace of mind for you and your family — especially in older homes or after renovations.

How to stop my smoke alarm from beeping

If your smoke alarm is intermittently beeping, then it will be one of two things:

  1. The battery needs replacing or,
  2. It has dust or debris caught within the sensor and will most likely need replacing

Most modern smoke alarms have fully integrated lithium ion batteries that are not replaceable and should last the life of the alarm.

To test your smoke alarm, press and hold the test button on the front of it for 3-5 seconds until the alarm goes off. If it screams loudly then its good.

If you have an style battery powered smoke alarm which allows you to change the battery, then we would recommend that you do your research and buy reputable brands as cheap, no name brands might fail to sound in a critical situation. For a few dollars, you can’t put a price on your safety.
